@BEGIN_FILE_ID.DIZPre-E3: Ubi SCARS Nintendo.
What the heck is Situational
Computer-generated Animal Racing
Simulation?
@END_FILE_ID.DIZ

Ubi's SCARS racer is a bit on the strange side...
Long-time readers will remember an announcement of a Vivid-developed racing
game called VR 3000 at the Nuremberg Toy Show late last year.
Today, Ubi Soft told that the game has undergone a name change. It's now
called SCARS, but that's not the only thing that's odd about it.

SCARS is probably best described as Mario Kart with TNT up its collective
tail-pipe. Vivid has combined the toughest future cars with the biggest guns
for explosive arcade style racing on nine tracks with tons of shortcuts and
alternative routes. Ubi promises that SCARS moves along at lightning speeds
and things blow up with gorgeous real-time lighting effects.

So what does all this have to do with animals? Well, apparently the
computer-designed cars are based on the fauna of this world, but the
explanation of what that exactly means will have to wait till later this
month. SCARS is slated for a Q3 release (fall '98). Look for more info on this
promising game from E3 later this month.
